It is exactly a year since my first blog entry.
When I started I really did not know how easy or difficult, time-consuming or not, rewarding or otherwise, it would be. After a year, with 157 posts under my belt, what do I think now ?
(1) It's definitely worthwhile.
At the margin, it stimulates me to do things I otherwise might not bother doing ("well, it will give me something to write about"), and nine times out of ten they are things that I am pleased I made the effort for.
Also, it makes me think more about activities : if I know I am going to want to write something up about an activity, I concentrate more on searching out aspects which might arguably be interesting.
(2) It takes longer than it should.
The advice I read at the start was to aim for two or three items a week (which I have achieved), and to take no more than 20 minutes to write them up (which I have failed to do). The problem mostly is the photo content. I reckon you must have images because text is so visually unattractive. But selecting, downsizing, and uploading photos takes an age. Perhaps I should quantify this.
(3) I am going to carry on.
But I should love it if I could look at the equivalent efforts by people I know. Perhaps no-one is interested in following my blog, but I should really appreciate following someone else's !
